What is Reconciliation?

Research conducted by the Ashukan Institute team on reconciliation between Indigenous Peoples and Canadian society has highlighted what it refers to as the "reconciliation nebula". This concept is complex, cross-cutting, and multidimensional, subject to multiple interpretations. These interpretations vary depending on the positioning of reconciliation actors and the scale at which they operate.

The 2025 Summit introduces an innovative approach by connecting these diverse stakeholders to:

  • Highlight the diverse perspectives of participants from government, public, parapublic, private organizations, and Indigenous communities
  • Gather visions of active participants at different levels within Indigenous circles and within Quebec and Canadian society
  • Offer a platform for voices that may redefine our understanding of reconciliation
