Émilie Fortin-Lefebvre is a professor in the Department of Management at UQAM’s School of Management Sciences (ESG UQAM). Her research focuses on economic autonomy in Indigenous contexts, using a combined approach of action research and research-creation. She explores the intersections between entrepreneurship, business support, economic development, and alternative research methodologies. Her commitment to Indigenous communities is reflected in her leadership of the Centre for Studies on Indigenous Peoples’ Economic Autonomy (AEPA). This center plays a crucial role in bringing together Indigenous and academic expertise to co-create knowledge that directly responds to the needs of Indigenous communities. Through her initiatives, Émilie Fortin-Lefebvre seeks to promote sustainable economic development tailored to the cultural and social realities of Indigenous Peoples. Her work fosters an autonomy that respects Indigenous values and worldviews, embodying active collaboration and ongoing dialogue between academic research and Indigenous knowledge.
